​The Educational Foundation Committee proudly announces that Linda Hollingsworth of Mississippi State Organization has been selected as one of fifty (50) to receive a 50th Anniversary Award in memory of Bettye Dunbar in the amount of $1000.  Her project entitled "Creating Readers for Life" will provide supplemental reading materials for first through fifth grade classes at Simpson County Academy to enhance and improve reading skills and comprehension.  Congratulations, Linda.  We are proud of you!

The University of Southern Mississippi proudly announces that Tracey Crawford has been selected to receive the 2014  Fay B. Kaigler - Ruth Lamont Award.  The Kaigler-Lamont Award recognizes distinguished accomplishments in promoting children’s reading by librarians and teachers in Mississippi schools and by children’s librarians in the public libraries of Mississippi.  Congratulations, Tracey.  We are proud of you!

Angie Quinn, Alpha Psi chapter, has been published in the spring, 2014 issue of The Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin with the article entitled "Effective Communication in a Time of Connectivity: An Interview with Dr.  Beverly Helms."  Please read this interesting article and learn more about communicating in today's society.     Angie is currently serving on the Editorial Board.  Congratulations, Angie.  We are proud of you!

Sarah Smith has been selected as our Star of the Southeast Region and will be recognized during the Southeast Regional Breakfast at the International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.  For the past 30 years, Sarah has been known as Zeta State's Treasurer; now she will be known as Zeta State's Treasure.  Thank you, Sarah, for your love and dedicated service to our Society!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mrs. Earlora Holden, Pearl River alumnus, retired  instructor and department chair, widow of Coach Dobie Holden and the  woman for whom Earlora Chapman Holden Student Residence Hall is named.  She celebrated her 105th birthday on April 29th and received a card signed by  the dorm residents.  She is a founding member of Sigma Chapter

Angie Quinn, Alpha Psi chapter, has a great article in the Fall 2014 issue of The Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin entitled "Looking at the Bigger Picture with Dr. Robert Marzano: Teacher Evaluation and Development for Improving Student Learning."  Please read this interesting interview and learn more about teacher evaluations and how these evaluations can improve our students' learning.
